Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

A right for California residents under the CCPA and CPRA — and how to use it with Columbia Septic Tanks.

Who This Page Is For

This page is written primarily for residents of California, who have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the “CCPA”). Columbia Septic Tanks operates from South Carolina and serves the Midlands, but our website is available to visitors nationwide — so we honor CCPA requests from California residents and, in good faith, handle similar requests from residents of other states in the same way.

What “Sell” and “Share” Mean Under the CCPA

The CCPA defines “sale” and “sharing” broadly. Beyond the everyday meaning of selling a list of personal information for money, “sale” can include any transfer of personal information to another business for other valuable consideration, and “sharing” can include disclosures for cross-context behavioral advertising even when no money changes hands.

Under those broad definitions, some of the disclosures we make to serve your quote request — such as passing your contact details to an independent licensed contractor or a financing partner — could be viewed as “sale” or “sharing” under California law, even though they are exactly the service you asked us to provide.

What We Do — and Do Not — Do With Your Information

• We do not sell your personal information to unrelated third parties for their own general marketing.
• We do share the information you submit on our forms with independent licensed contractors so they can prepare a quote, and — only if you ask — with third-party financing partners so they can present monthly-payment options. See the privacy policy for the full list.
• We may use advertising and analytics tools (for example, Google Ads, Meta, or similar) that under California law could be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of California residents under the age of 16.

Your CCPA Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what categories of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we have shared it.
• Access the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Delete personal information we have collected, subject to legal exceptions.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
• Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information.
• Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

How to Submit a Do Not Sell / Share Request

To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, email us at:

Please include:

• Subject line: Do Not Sell/Share
• Your full name
• The email address and phone number you used with us, if any
• The ZIP code of the property you asked about, if any
• Confirmation that you are a resident of California (or another state with similar rights)

We will process verified requests within 15 business days of receipt, and always within the deadlines required by law (generally 45 days for CCPA, with a possible extension). Once processed, your opt-out applies going forward. It does not automatically un-do disclosures already made to a contractor or lender you asked us to introduce you to.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We recognize and honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out preference signal from a California resident. When GPC is detected on a page view, we treat it as a request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser and device.

Authorized Agents

You may designate an authorized agent to submit a CCPA request on your behalf. We will ask for written proof that you authorized the agent, and where required by law we may ask you to verify identity directly with us.

Verifying Your Identity

To protect you, we may ask a few questions to verify the request is really from you — typically by confirming details you already gave us. We will not use information you provide to verify a request for any other purpose.

Appeals

If we deny a CCPA request in whole or in part, we will tell you why. To appeal, reply to the response and include “Appeal” in the subject line. Where required by law we will provide the applicable regulator’s contact information as part of that response.

Non-California Residents

South Carolina does not currently have a general consumer privacy law equivalent to the CCPA. However, we will honor requests from residents of any state to stop sharing their information with contractor or financing partners, to delete their quote request from our records (subject to legal exceptions), and to opt out of marketing calls, texts, and emails.
