We publish honest local information about septic installation, pumping, drain field repair, tank repair, inspections, and grease-trap service — and we connect homeowners who want a real quote with independent, licensed septic contractors working in and around Columbia, Lexington, Irmo, West Columbia, Blythewood, Chapin, Elgin, Gaston, and Pelion.
Nothing on this site replaces a site visit from a licensed contractor. Every septic project is different: your soil, your setback distances, your permit history, and what someone finds after opening the tank. What we can do is get you close on cost, close on options, and close on the right questions to ask before you sign anything.
What We Deliberately Don’t Do
We don’t hold a South Carolina septic installer license. We don’t own vacuum trucks, dig drain fields, or pump tanks. We don’t issue binding numbers over the internet. Why This Site Exists
Septic in the Midlands is unlike septic in a lot of the country. Our sandy loam over clay perc-tests unpredictably. High water tables in the Lake Murray watershed and the Congaree floodplain make gravity systems a bad fit for some parcels — mound and ATU systems become the answer instead. SCDES (formerly DHEC) permits every install, and Richland and Lexington County health departments run the day-to-day inspections. National pricing guides and national “how often to pump” advice usually miss those realities, and the miss can cost you a five-figure mistake.
Our goal is a place a homeowner in the Midlands can land in the middle of a septic problem and get useful, local, honest information within two minutes. The referral piece is how we cover our operating costs — but the local information is the product.

Columbia Septic Tanks is early. We’re building out the contractor network parish by parish — pumpers, installers, drain-field specialists, ATU technicians. Response times and coverage depth improve as the network grows.
